Hell Darkknight, we, who work on this site, know all about the DB errors, the lag-outs and the slow load times,- how could we not? After all, we spend a lot of time here and suffer from these things as much as you do.

This forum is funded through adds and membership subscriptions and contrary to what some believe it is not a big money machine.
Servers cost money and I guarantee you we have the best our funds can support.

Kzap has been working on improving the response times by tweaking, merging, updating, etc. and to me the site seem faster now than it has for a long time.
New solutions are always being explored, but we cannot make any promises.

Uh, Darkknight. You might get a db error maybe once or twice day because of too many connections. Maybe you don't spend that much time on the site but anyone can tell you that it has improved dramatically. I believe I've commented on this issue eleventy billion times in our Site Feedback forum. Just because you aren't searching for the answer doesn't mean it's not there.

The originality of this post isn't really "up there" in terms of creative ways to complain, not really sure what you expected the response to be. But if you can't beat 'em, join 'em I say. Surprising, I know, we have a sense of humor too.

This forum is a million times better then when it was back in 2006. The influx of newbs with the release of Factions kinda killed this place.

After a very nice chat with darkNecrid, I came to realise the most annoying part of Guru: it's a very bad representation of the population (it wasn't aimed to be, of course, but given it's the biggest fansite, it influences the way we see the community). In a sense, sometimes it feels like Goebbels's (WWII Nazi's minister of propaganda) moto of "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." Actually, it can be seen as the best part of Guru, because it can give you a lot of hopes once you realise this

I feel sad sometimes when the gems of some Guru-ers get burried under a pile of uter crap and +1s.

GW guru has the worst moderators of any forum I am apart of. Guru also seriously lacks the "contructive criticism" a gaming forum like this should have and Guru is just full of arrogant asses that spend more time of this site then GW.

You can change the mods but you can't change the posters. The problem isn't the mods, but the posters. You can't ban everyone who doesn't give "constructive criticism" because then there would be maybe 100 users. So instead of blaming the mods look at the users.

You know what annoys me? Seeing a user that posts insults to the mods... then going back to review their posts and realizing how many absolutely don't contribute, are filled with flaming and personal insults, they curse a lot, and just generally have a bad attitude. And yet... it's the mod's fault. Ironic eh? The same user who complains of a lack of quality guru posters and discussions and yet in thread after thread they fail at it themselves. (They all justify it by the way. They are FORCED to respond that way. They pass blame off to someone else, never ever accepting responsibility.)

This thread for the most part has been used as an excuse to perpetuate hate between mods and regular users. Hate in itself is nothing more than a form of ignorance, so I really don't see why people find it a necessity to perpetuate it.

Everyone is going to have something they dislike about Guru, we are in fact only human, and are prone to have emotions. The trick is not to succumb to indifference, which is only a fallacy, but to harness what emotion we do have, and use it in the right manner.

If I were to mention what I disliked about Guru, I would find that my points would greatly parallel what I dislike about reality altogether. The people that claim that a large divide exists between an online gaming forum and reality, are greatly in error. Guru is just a shell of reality. I would say if anything it allows people the ability to be far more true to themselves and others, given the partial anonymity. I do say partial because in fact, your character will shine through for the most part, there is really no hiding what kind of person you are, here or anywhere.

We are all prone to hate, it's innate, there's really no getting around it's existence. At best we can minimize its hold on us. I find myself gazing upon others in awe at times, wondering what justification they could have for their actions. Ultimately though, we can justify anything if we try hard enough, people are like that, given that we could get used to the most vicious things, as out past has always reminded us. I guess that's really what I hate most about Guru and this reality.
